When a saint goes home

Yesterday was the funeral of a friend. A saint gone home. Although we had not spoken in years our family's hearts were connected by the love of the Lord, the fact we both have big families and the fact that we pursued the excellence of God. Clark Bynum is a saint. All that encountered him knew he was a man of integrity and a man whose life was set like flint on God. When a piece of heaven on earth is removed all heaven and earth notices and is greatly impacted. I will miss knowing that he is ministering on this earth. But wait, when one lives sold out to Jesus their life continues to give. We are all better people for having touched even one day of Clark's life. God bless Sissy and the children. God bless Ed and Ms Y. My heart is forever greatful for you all and for knowing you and knowing Clark. Thank you Jesus that you care so for your children and that Clark's life will live on through his children and dear friends and family. I am forever greatful that through the blood of Jesus we are brothers and sisters.

Soccer began today - another first

Soccer began today for one of the four teams, fifth grade boys. The mosquitos were like helicopters, lifting the Moms away. After practice the boys came home and jumped in the pool. Great way to end a hot sweaty practice. More to come as we all hit the field.

Official start to 07/08 school year

So we officially started our school year yesterday. How do you start? Of course, with a special big breakfast out on the town a trip to Walmart to gather all the supplies, complete with special pencil caddies and all of our soccer supplies for four teams this fall. Yikes did I say four teams? I wonder how that is going to work. It must be possible with a very organized dinner menu, a Cinderella ball for the little girls to kick around and a lot of bug spray early on. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated. Did I mention how long it takes to get in the car with everyone properly suited up? I don't even want to think about that right now. Six more days and we will be full force. Let you know later.

First second day of Pre-school

You know you are a novice to blogging when it's only been a few days and you forgot your user name and password altogether. But, with a little help I was successful in remembering one which led to remembering the other and here we are again. Aren't we all glad. Seeing how I have had no responses to anything else, it looks like it's just me and my own thoughts. So here we go me.
Faith the youngest of 6 had her first day at pre-school last week too. But it was over shadowed by the fact that after Hannah Cate's first few days in her class she ends up with strepp throat. NO fun at all for anyone.
Faith on the other hand had a difficult time, and what I thought would be an easy entry and "piece of cake" time for her turned out to be a bit of a baby trauma with much crying and calling for Mommie. Pour number 6, no sympathy here. It's on the schedule (ha,ha) and that's the way it goes kiddo. Not really, but for half of a second you would think so. But isn't she a cutie whether rain or shiny disposition.

First day of Preschool

This was the first day of pre-school for Hannah Cate. She was so excited and had been impatiently waiting for the day to arrive. She has little concept of time so she walked around the house day in and day out saying, "Mommy - tomorrow?" And I would answer, "No, Monday baby." We have a new teacher and 15 new friends which is all a bit overwhelming, but the day was a success and she even came home with a new phrase. "Miss Beth says turn your ears on." SO we all spent the afternoon turning our ears on. Why is that such a big deal. Mainly because every new step is a really big deal when you have Down Syndrome like Hannah Cate. And we are proud of her every BIG step. SO turning our ears on opens up a whole new world of understanding for her and for us. We love our big girl and have high expectations of the Lord's manifested love for her. Keep watching it will prove to be a really BIG deal.

Today

When you are exhausted and need to have a few sentences with your husband un-interrupted, what do you do? We hired a babysitter and ordered in, set the kids up with a movie and walked out the backdoor around the back gate, past the swimming pool and onto the back sunporch adjacent to our bedroom. I was afraid that we would both fall asleep waiting on a table at a restaurant and I did not want to be interrupted by the waitress asking if we needed another glass of tea. I put a cooler full of ice (it's been 100 degrees most everyday here) and a pitcher of tea on the porch along with our dinner and we sat down in our favorite spot of the house (that we never get to go too) and talked and ate and enjoyed one another's company. I have wanted to enjoy my own home with my husband since we moved in in December. This was a great "date" night. The funny thing is that the kids never knew we were there.Just a start more to come later :>)
